Growing up on music from the likes of George Strait and Chris Ledoux, Fugitt (pronounced Fyoogit) has been a huge fan of country music and all that comes with being a musical artist. From his early band days playing V F W halls to doing acoustic shows at local opry houses, country music is what has defined him.
Ricky put his first band together while attending college and began begging for places to play all his favorite country songs. It was then that he realized that there was more to being an artist than just standing behind a microphone and singing. It was this point in his life when he began exploring writing, although nothing seemed to stand out at the time.
His first big band , named LAST CALL, was based out of Kansas City, and with this experience, Ricky got his first taste of what a band really could be. Ricky began writing of his own experiences that extended from days in the honky tonks to the life of rodeo. Ricky was intrigued by the Texas Music scene and all the atmosphere that surrounded it. If ever there were a point where an artist truly knew where he would fit in, this was it for him.
Ricky got a big break in the summer of 2008 while writing songs to put on his acoustic CDs that he sold at his shows. Ricky wrote a song titled “RED DIRT MUSIC” that was picked up by radio stations throughout Texas and Oklahoma. As he watched his fan base continue to grow, he also had his first sponsor jump on board in 2008. Ranch Style Rodeo Wear Co. based in California has been a great business partner as well as an overall supporter of Ricky Fugitt.
Today Ricky is still playing when and wherever he can. He has begun touring Texas as well as beginning work on his first studio album set to release in 2009.
